Ken Dough Magic Kaffei, Dipolog City

Whenever I'm in my hometown, I always see this restaurant beside a hardware that has a catchy name...Ken Dough Magic Kaffei. I was under the impression that this is an establishment that sells baking products because of its name until I get to understand the last word which means café and that made me curious about their food.

One hot afternoon while I was walking along the main streets of Dipolog City, I got so hungry and thirsty. So I've decided to visit and try this café that has been in the market for over 6 years now. I am seriously clueless about this food shop even if it is located at the heart of the city. Before I went inside, I was really crossing my fingers that I'd be satisfied with my experience in this café. Also, I'm hoping to see the value of my money and be one of their happy customers.

When I entered the place, it wasn't crowded because it was still around 3:00pm. Just right in time for an afternoon snack.

The interior's concept is orange and green that stimulate appetite and calmness plus it gives the impression of affordability.

In every establishment, we know that the front liners which consist of the guard, waiters, waitresses and the cashiers play a very important role in making the first impression and creating a memorable experience aside from the food or service. However, I wasn't really impressed with their staff because when I get inside, they just looked at me without any greetings. I was waiting for a single smile but it seems like all of them were having a bad day. However, it didn't stopped me in trying out what is on their menu.

Ken's Special Blend Iced Tea - Php30.00
At first, I was hesitant to accept this from the waiter because of its color. If I can recall, I ordered Iced Tea and not Pomelo Juice. However, I was wrong because this is really what I ordered. This is a unique beverage because of its color and you really get to taste the tea. Looking at the size, this is already enough for a single person unless if you are so thirsty but I bet you will never order for another round.

Turon ala Mode - Php50.00
This is really something to die for. Swear. For that price, it is already of good value for a dessert. You'll get five wrapped banana slices fried to perfection and a generous scoop of French Vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel and topped with sesame seeds. Sinfully delicious.

Now, let's talk about something that I can say, a discovery. It is their Classic Bibingkitas (Native Rice Cakes). This is the only café in Dipolog City that sells mouth-watering rice cakes.

Classic Bibingkitas - Php18.00 each
These rice cakes are made of carefully chosen rice that are perfectly granulated. These are baked and topped with their homemade salted eggs and grated cheese for a delectable taste. Simply mouth-watering.

We all know that this is one of the best delicacies during Christmas Season and you can order it by box if you want to share it with your friends, relatives or loved ones.

Classic Bibingkitas - Php108.00 (6's); Php218.00 (12's); Php540.00 (30's)

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, I will rate this establishment an 8 because I wasn't impressed with the staff and crew's performance but for the food, it's totally of great value, so yummy and definitely a magic. It's worth the try. I hope on my next visit, the staff and crew will be more friendly and smiling for them to earn my 10 rating.

How about you? Have you been here lately? Share your thoughts too.
