I was invited by Alic of Alic In Wonderland last Saturday at his place for a simple dinner with some of our friends. I was so excited because this is one of his dreams to host a simple themed dinner. Good thing that the event was schedule on a weekend and he informed us that the food will be served by 7pm.
When I arrived at his place, some of our friends were already there and they're almost done eating. I was totally hungry and I can't wait to try the food that he prepared for us.
At the table are condiments and ingredients that he just placed for us to make our own burgers. Since it was an American-themed dinner, of course I did not expect to see rice and other heavy viand or dishes. What caught my attention was the serving of potatoes that was so yummy. According to Alic, those are baby potatoes in olive oil seared with buttermilk and seasoned with flat parsley, thyme, salt and pepper to taste. This was my favorite among others, ohh so yummy!
While eating the potatoes, I started making my own burger with the ingredients prepared for us.
I was amazed when Alic introduced us his homemade burger patties. Yes, he made it. It was made of ground beef, longganisa, eggs, rosemary, salt and pepper. You may find it small in the photo but I tell you, these are huge and thick burger patties and they are so delicious. Not just an ordinary patty that you can but in a grocery or even burger joints. These are made from the heart.
Of course, a burger is never complete without the cheese, button mushrooms and caramelized onions. I wasn't able to take photos of the lettuce, fresh tomatoes, mayonnaise and tomato ketchup because I was so excited to finish piling up the ingredients on my bun and eat it.
That's my plate with the burger I made, the baby potatoes, slices of tomatoes and the sweet, tender corn seared with butter. I even had a hard time finishing the entire burger because it was literally humongous.
To top it all, Alic made this refreshing treat that he called Sun Cooler that is made of orange juice with slices of real fruits like apple, oranges, watermelon and calamansi. So healthy, right?
Overall, the experience was fun and awesome. All of us were so full and satisfied. Kudos to Alic for being so generous and adventurous. Thank you as well for inviting me to be part of the guest list and I am looking forward to the next themed-party that you will be hosting. What's next? Is it the French-inspired breakfast or the chocolate party or what? I'm always ready.
Any suggestions for his next themed-party? Let me hear your thoughts.
