Tokyo Joe!, i2 Building, Cebu I.T. Park, Cebu City

Everytime I go to work, I always pass by a Japanese fastfood restaurant located at i2 building. Before it was Rai Rai Ken until it was changed to Tokyo Joe. I got curious because the resto's color catches my attention, it is bright orange. It's a good marketing strategy because the color orange is a warm and inviting color. It is both physically and mentally stimulating, so it gets people thinking and talking. It also stimulates the appetite and promotes conversation and social interaction, which in turn encourages people to have a good time and to eat and drink more. Tokyo Joe's color and concept gives people the impression of affordability.

Tokyo Joe started in 2012 and spearheaded by Joey Garcia. Currently, they have 5 branches effectively replicated here in the Queen City of the South. They have branches in Ayala Center, SM City, Cebu I.T. Park, Gaisano Tabunok and Gaisano Agus.

Last night, I was really craving for maki and I invited Shee of My Dolce Vita if she wants to go with me. I was glad when she said yes! We went to the nearest branch in our office in the I.T. Park. What I don't like about the branch here in the i2 building is the facade is blocked with stairs going to the 2nd floor of the building which causes also the resto not to be noticed by others right away. Take a look at the photos below for the facade.

When we get inside, I admire the cleanliness of the branch giving us an assurance that the food is prepared properly and neatly. Though the area is small, it is well-arranged. the staff and crew are polite. The ambience is really inviting and it promotes fun and optimism because of its color. The furnitures are just fine and subtle, in short, it's not overcrowded. They let us take our seats immediately and gave us the menu. I can't decide right away what to order looking at the menu because I was overwhelmed with the different flavors of their maki and their signature gyudon or beef bowls. Take a look at the menu and pick your orders in advance:

credits to Shee-Shee for taking the photo :-)

Here's what we ordered for our late dinner:

Beef Bowl Teriyaki (Ala Carte - Php95.00)

Beef Bowl Misono (Ala Carte - Php95.00)

Age Gyoza - Php70.00

Chicken Maki (Upgrade - Php65.00 with Iced Tea)

Super California Maki (Upgrade - Php65.00 with Iced Tea)

Kani Salad - Php90.00

Iced Tea (FREE for TJ's Bowl and Bento Upgrade)

I appreciate their serving because it's enough for someone like me especially the TJ's Bowl where I didn't even finished the rice. What I don't like is the complimentary iced tea for the TJ's Bowl Upgrade because for me, it doesn't jive well with the meal. They could have offered us an upgrade for either iced tea or soda. I'd rather go for the soda if that was a choice because I was eating a heavy meal and I need to burp hehehe.

Overall, the experience was fine. The price is just right for our budget. We did not pay a lot and we saw the value of our money for a Japanese cuisine. Why don't you try it and see for yourself.
