Red Kimono, The Terrace-Ayala Center, Cebu City

Konnichiwa! (Hello!) I want to treat you this time to a modern Japanese cuisine. I am always a fan of the Japanese food because aside from the design, colorful presentation and the sheer beauty of what we're eating, we can guarantee that it's freshly made and prepared. That is why I love Red Kimono.

Red Kimono has seven branches nationwide and we have one here in the Queen City of the South situated at The Terraces, Ayala Center-Cebu. According to them, their vision is to create a concept to bring together the modern and traditional elements of Japanese cuisine - ‘Red’ symbolizing the new, Western and innovative aspect; and ‘Kimono’ representing the old, Eastern and traditional aspects.

My friends and I decided to go International for our lunch and we all have the same thing in mind when we finally decided what to eat and where to go.

Sushi, Sashimi and Maki are my top favorites that is why it's always part of my menu if we talk about Japanese food. I'm not really a fan of wasabi because of its strong taste but I can tolerate just a pea size mixed with soy sauce for my sushi, sashimi and maki. Unlike my other friends, they have a large amount of it because according to them, it's like a drug that stimulates the nasal passages more than the tongue.

Here's what we ordered for lunch...itadakimasu! (Let's eat or I humbly receive)

Red Dragon - maki rolled with mango, avocado and salmon topped with kani @ P265.00
Salmon and Cream Cheese Maki - rolled with Norwegian salmon and Philadelphia cream cheese @ P275.00
Hot Shot Roll - a spicy Mexican inspired roll filled with tuna, jalapeño, cream cheese, avocado and spring onions @ P325.00

Crunchy Ebi Maki - rolled in crispy tempura flakes then stuffed and topped with ebiko and Japanese mayo @ P220.00

Sashimi Maguro (tuna) @ P225.00

Chicken Teriyaki - grilled chicken in teriyaki sauce served with potato hay @ P260.00

Gyoza - pan fried pork dumplings served with a tangy dipping sauce @ P160.00

Wasabi Oyster Tempura - mouth-watering oysters cooked tempura style and topped with a divine teriyaki mayo dressing - a must try! @ P275.00

Tonkatsu - deep fried breaded pork cutlets served with garlic butter mashed potatoes @ P240.00

Miso Soup - traditional Japanese soup made from fermented soy beans @ P55.00

Yakitori - two skewers of barbequed chicken with yakitori sauce @ P125.00
Chicken Teriyaki Bento - served with salmon sashimi, crunchy kani maki, kyuri kani salad, miso soup and iced tea @ P410.00
Iced Tea (bottomless) @ P75.00

Gochiso Sama deshita! (It was quite a feast!). My friends and I were so full. Price-wise, for me, it was a bit pricey but it's alright to reward ourselves once in awhile. You will never regret after you tried eating here but it's not ideal to eat here everyday. LoL! Try it and let me hear your thoughts. Arigatougozaimasu! (Thank you!)

  1. Although I'm not a very big fan of raw fish, I try to eat one maki or sushi in hotel buffets. (JUST ONE!)
Red Dragon and Hot Shot both look great! So, which one's your favorite?
